Case Focuses On $56,000 In Memorabilia
COOPERSTOWN – Ian R. Turner, a former Cooperstown police parking enforcement officer, was arraigned this morning at Otsego Town Court on charges that he allegedly stole $56,077 worth of sports memorabilia from Paterno Brothers Sports over the summer.
Appearing before Town Justice Gary Kuch in Fly Creek, Turner was charged with grand larceny, second degree, a felony violation. He plead not guilty, and was represented by public defender James P. Ferrari.
Sports cards were recovered from his home, person and car, according to Investigator Mike Ten Eyck of the Otsego County District Attorney’s office.
If convicted, Turner faces up to 15 years in prison and a maximum $5,000 fine. He was released on his own recognizance and will reappear in court Nov. 18.
He resigned from the force in October.
