COOPERSTOWN – This year’s Chobani Foundation Tennis Classic, the seventh, reached the fundraising goal of $100,000 for Pathfinder Village, the Edmeston facility for people with Down syndrome and disabilities announced.

Sept. 6 play was organized by a volunteer committee led by co-chairs Bob and Pat Hanft of Cooperstown, who have guided the growth of the tournament since it began in 2010.

“All the money raised goes for a great purpose, and each year the tournament gets better as we fine-tune the event with player recommendations,” said Mrs. Hanft.  “We are grateful to the Chobani Foundation for once again coming through as our title sponsor, and for providing prizes and promotional support for this great event.”

“Pathfinder Village is fortunate to have our good friends at the Chobani Foundation as the title sponsor for the Tennis Classic,” said Paul C. Landers, Pathfinder president/CEO. “Our tennis event, along with the long-running Otesaga Seniors Open Golf Tournament, has raised over $2.6 million in scholarship awards for Pathfinder families.”

Along with the Hanfts, the Pathfinder Village Foundation’s Tennis Committee includes Patrick Kinley, Charlie Kieler, and Jeanette Weldon, all of Cooperstown, and Cassandra Treen and Don Brown of Chobani.
