Sun Smiles On Cooptoberfest,
And Crowds Throng To Coop
Channeling Spiderman, Cooper Ruffles, son of incoming county treasurer Allen Ruffles, clambers up the inflatable obstacle course this afternoon at Cooptoberfest, the street fair and fall celebration convened in Cooperstown for the fourth Columbus Day weekend in a row. A right, the band Hanzolo, (from left, Jack Loewenguth, Carl Loewenguth, Joey Katz, James Matson and Nate Olmstead; Nick Summers is back there somewhere), which is becoming something of a local phenomenon, performed at Main and Pioneer. The day started misty with an occasional sprinkle, but by afternoon skies had cleared and temperatures moved into the upper 70s, drawing foliage and fun seekers from Syracuse to the Capitol Region. At 4, the kids went home and adults shifted to the Doubleday Field parking lot for Cooperstown on Tap, with some three-dozen breweries from around Upstate New York offering samples of their wares. The day is organized by the Coopertown Chamber of Commerce and Town Square Media. (Jim Kevlin/AllOTSEGO.com)
