Vote Marietta Back In
INDEX – County Rep. Andrew Marietta, D-Cooperstown/Town of Otsego, targeted for defeat by the county Republican Party, has emerged victorious this evening, 630-417, a decisive margin over Republican Tim Walker.
Democrats packed into The Shack on Route 28 here are claiming victory in the City of Oneonta seats on the county board, but it was unclear if these results were official.
The one cloud in the Democrats’ blue sky appeared to be in the northern skies, where veteran county Rep. Keith McCarty, R-East Springfield, held his seat decisively, 637-357, turning back Democrat Nicole Dillingham.
At My Father’s Place in Emmons, where city and Town of Oneonta Democrats are gathered, the report is that Danny Lapin defeated Republican incumbent Len Carson, 239-231, but there are 54 absentee ballots out that must be counted over the next several days.
Meanwhile, Republicans dissipated from the Fiesta in downtown Oneonta after learning that Randy Mowers keeping his town board seat was the only GOP win.
County Board Chair Kathy Clark, R-Otego/Laurens, was there for a brief period, but departed, saying, “I think I did a good job. It will be what it will be. It’s good people are participating.”
