IN MEMORIAM: William S. Reed, 50;
Baystate Native Was Boy Scout Leader
COOPERSTOWN – William Stanley Reed, 50, an assistant leader of Troop 14, Richfield Springs, passed away peacefully at home on Nov. 18, 2017, with his family by his side.
William was born July 25, 1967, in Southbridge, Mass., son of the late Stanley William Reed and Lela Mae Buell Reed. He was raised and educated in Holland, Mass.
Locally, he was a repair technician with American Homes.
His greatest passion was being a father to his son. Along with his son Tristen, he was very active with Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, serving as assistant troop leader.
Billy was one who enjoyed the outdoors and all that nature had to offer. He was one who was quick with his mind and great with problem solving. Truly a friend to many and he will never be forgotten.
Besides his mother Lela, he is survived by his son Tristen William Reed of Cooperstown; three sisters, Brenda Reed and her companion Alfred Zoeller of Cooperstown, Lori Ann Reed and her companion Michael Olinsky of Cooperstown, and Sue Oleksy and her husband Louis of Brooklyn, Conn., and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, in The Old Stone Church, Schuyler Lake, with Pastor Rick Kinney officiating.
The family will be present to receive relatives and friends from noon to 1 at the church.
