IN MEMORIAM: Helen Mockovciak, 84;
Retired From Kraft Foods After 37 Year
EDMESTON – Helen P. Mockovciak, 84, of Edmeston, who retired from Kraft Foods after 37 years as a machine operator, passed away on Wednesday Jan. 24, 2018, in New Hartford.
Helen was born on March 30, 1933, in Edmeston, the daughter of the late Julius and Susanna Chczakavitch Pylinski.
A lifetime resident of the area, Helen married John Mockovciak at St. John’s Catholic Church on Feb. 17, 1951.
She was a devoted member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Edmeston, and St. Theresa’s Church in New Berlin. She was an avid gardener growing many types of flowers.
She also enjoyed traveling to the USS Manchester Navy reunions with John, and continued attending the reunions after John passed. Helen was active with the American Legion Auxiliary 1311 in Edmeston for many years
In addition to her parents, she was pre-deceased by her husband in 2005, a son Doran in 1974, and siblings Joseph Pylinski, Peter Pylinski, Jan Piazza, Sylvester Pylinski, Mary Ann Sweet, Edward Pylinski, Walter Pylinski, Genevieve Nestved, and Albert Pylinski Sr.
She is survived by son Dana (Connie) Mockovciak of Edmeston, daughter Diana (James) Helmer of North Carolina, grandchildren Cana White, Ardath (Kris) Johnson, Brandy Mockovciak, Andrew Mockovciak, Allison Helmer, Helen Helmer, and Matthew Mockovciak, great-grandchildren Emma, Abigail, Isabella, Kohen, Micah. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, at Delker & Terry Funeral Home, Edmeston, followed by funeral services at 11 a.m., with Maureen Joy of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Morris, officiating. Immediately following the services, there will be a reception at the Burlington Flats Baptist Church.
Interment will be in Edmeston Union Cemetery in the spring.
