IN MEMORIAM: Gabriel D. Lawrence, 16;
Junior Loved Outdoors, Excelled At Golf
BURLINGTON FLATS – Gabriel Donald Lawrence, 16, was called home unexpectedly Friday Aug. 31, 2018, in Edmeston.
Gabriel was born on Dec. 12, 2001, at Bassett Birthing Center in Cooperstown, the son of Gary and Paula (Clark) Lawrence.
Gabe, also known as “Nator”, spent his 16 years in the Edmeston-Burlington community growing with his family and friends. He was entering his junior year at Edmeston Central and was planning to attend the BOCES Building Trades Program.
He loved the outdoors, and could be found sitting in a tree stand, hunting deer or turkeys and running rabbits with his beagle. He loved casting a fishing pole in whatever stream or lake he could find and riding dirt-bike and four-wheeler on or off the beaten path (sometimes without a helmet).
Gabe loved pretending to be Larry Bird on the basketball court or swinging the baseball bat like Big Papi. He excelled at golf and could drive a golfball farther than his dad and even beat him. He loved the Boston Red Sox and the Pittsburgh Steelers and cheering his favorite motocross riders around the track.
When he wasn’t outdoors, Gabe enjoyed baking chocolate chip cookies and eating them while playing video games.
Gabe will be remembered for his great sense of humor, catch phrases, bright blue eyes, heart warming grin, and his love for family, friends and the simple things in life.
Gabriel is survived by his parents Gary and Paula Lawrence of Burlington Flats; his older sisters Megan, Paige and Sarah; maternal grandmother Pat Clark; uncles Mike (Lisa) Clark, Rob Clark, Tim (Joy) Lawrence; aunt Sandy (John Williams) Lawrence, and cousins Michael and Justin Clark, Quinn Clark, Randy (Cathy) Lawrence and Michaela Williams.
Calling hours will be 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday Sept. 4, at Delker & Terry Funeral Home, 30 South St., Edmeston. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. immediately following calling hours at the Second Baptist Church of Edmeston with Pastor Andrew Johnson officiating. Gabriel’s family is requesting casual dress.
