EDMESTON – An Earlville man is in Otsego County jail today after he was arrested Sunday and charged with robbing the NBT Bank branch in Edmeston on May 23.

Dennis D. Gelatt, 31, was taken into custody when Otsego and Madison county sheriff’s deputies executed a search warrant at a Madison County home.

According to Otsego Sheriff Richard J. Devlin Jr., on Monday, May 23 at approximately 11 a.m., Gelatt allegedly entered the NBT Bank at 1 West St. and waited in line with other customers.

When Gelatt got to the teller window, he demanded cash from the teller; no weapon was displayed but one was implied, Devlin reported today.  When the suspect obtained the cash, he allegedly fled the bank on foot running to a parked vehicle on West Street fleeing the area west on Route 20.

Gelatt was charged with robbery, second degree, and arraigned in the Town of Edmeston Court by Judge Bateman.  He was remanded to the Otsego County Correctional Facility on $25,000.00 Bail.

State police and Otsego County District Attorney John Muehl were also involved in this investigation.
