IN MEMORIAM: Barbara Hull Bunn, 86;

Morris Valedictorian Went Into Banking

GARRATTSVILLE – Barbara Ann Hull Bunn, 86, Morris Central School’s 1950 valedictorian who went on to a career in banking, passed away Thursday August 2, 2018 with her daughter Lori at her side.

Barbara was born July 1, 1932 in Garrattsville, the daughter of the late Merton and Dorothy Bundy Hull.

On June 12, 1954, she married Vernon Bunn, who affectionately referred to her as “Blossom.” Barbara  and Vernon celebrated their 58th anniversary just prior to his passing on Nov. 7, 2012.

In her earlier years, Barbara was employed in the bookkeeping department of the First Bank and Trust Co.  and Marine Midland Bank. Later, she was employed with U.S. Materials Handling.

She was a member of the Methodist Church of Garrattsville, was their pianist for several years.

Barbara was known for her quick wit. People laughed at her jokes right up to the day before she died. She was also a cat lover, especially her beloved Muffin.

She is survived by her daughter Lori (Ron) Higgins of Richfield Springs, a brother Donald (Doris) Hull of Garrattsville, sisters-in-law Dawn Hull of Burlington Flats, Shirley (Weldon) Breaux of Norwich and Sulphur Springs, La., and Holly Bunn of Morris.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son Thomas in 1969, a sister Betty Poling of Florida in 2018, a brother Gerald of Burlington Flats in 1996, and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be noon-2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7 at the Delker & Terry Funeral Home, Edmeston. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Edmeston Union Cemetery.
