2018 MIDTERM ELECTIONS
Big Turnout Indicated
At Oneonta Polling Site
ONEONTA – Voters cast 2,864 ballots today at Foothills Performing Arts Center, although past numbers for comparison weren’t immediately available as election officials on site shut things down and left.
However, a quick review of data available suggested about two-thirds of registered voters cast ballots in the city. If Cooperstown’s experience holds – 30 to 40 percent turnout in a mid-term election – than Oneonta numbers, unsurprisingly, are high as well.
A quick look at the tallies showed 415 of 575 registered voters in Ward 2 voted; 437 of 661 in Ward 5, and 314 of 489 in Ward 8.
A polling official, Marty Becker, said the “affidavit table” was busy all day, particularly with college students seeking authorization to cast ballots locally.
