CCS Principal Lucy

Resigns After 2 Years

Search For Successor To Begin In Fall

Donna Lucy

COOPERSTOWN – Donna Lucy, who recently engaged to marry, has resigned as Cooperstown High School principal in a reorganization announced today by the school district.

“As many of you know I became engaged earlier this year. As a result my family and I will be relocating in July 2018,” Lucy said. “I am super excited for my next chapter and I leave knowing that there are other authentic champions for children in the world.”

While Lucy’s successor is sought, she will be replaced for a year by Jim Brophy, director of extra-curricular advisement and athletics for the past two years.

Dave Bertram, coach and elementary teacher, has been appointed to fill Brophy’s role.   Nina  Burke was hired to fill his teaching spot in September.

The administrative changes will help meet the district’s goal of engaging more students in extracurricular activities and ensure that those activities and interscholastic athletics are managed in a beneficial way that support learning as a whole within the district.
