‘Community Heroes’ Saluted

As 3-Year Recognition Ends

Artist Janet Wentworth Erickson’s Dream
Honors 37 With 51 Portraits, Photographs
A Hartwick College colleague, Phil Young, praises Harry Bradshaw Matthews as an inspiration to many at this evening’s “Community Heroes in Portraiture” reception at SUNY Oneonta’s Martin-Mullen Gallery. The three-year recognition program was envisioned by artist Janet Wentworth Erickson, right, as a way to honor “unsung heroes” in Otsego and Delaware counties.   She enlisted student photographers and artists in the effort, including, from left, Anna Graziosi and Zena Ballas. The three-year cycle began in 2014 with a similar reception at The Fenimore Art Museum. Portraits on the wall depict some of this year’s honorees, from left, Carleton Clay, Ben Guenther and Dr. Matthews. (Jim Kevlin/AllOTSEGO.com)

RSS wants to build a 64-unit project for low- and moderate-income people that will include 14 apartments reserved for individuals recovering from drug and alcohol abuse. Subsidized rents will range from $520 to $1,067, well below market rates for Oneonta.…
