6 DEMOCRATS VIE TO CHALLENGE FASO

Congressional Forum

Brings Out Almost 700

With town and county elections just five days behind us, almost 700 Democrats filled the Montgomery C. Smith Intermediate School auditorium and balcony in Hudson this afternoon to hear six candidates turn their sights on U.S. Rep. John Faso, R-19, the freshman up for reelection next November.  Among the attendees were Maguire Benton and John Stewart of Cooperstown, who are working for the campaign of Brian Flynn.  Richard Sternberg of Cooperstown was representing the Otsego County Democratic Committee.  Candidates at the front table are, from left, Jeff Beals, Gareth Rhodes, Antonio Delgado, Pat Ryan, David Clegg and Flynn.  At left is moderator Pam Kline of Indivisible 19, which helped recruit candidates to challenge Faso and organized today’s event.  The 19th District includes Otsego County.   Two candidates – CCS graduate Sue Sullivan and Steven Brisee – were among the six Congressional candidates who appeared at Oneonta’s Sixth Ward Athletic Club, but have since dropped out.  Since, Clegg and Ryan stepped up.
