ONEONTA – Michael Joseph Muehl, who operated a dairy farm in Emmons for 27 years, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 27, 2015.  He was 89.

Michael was born on Jan. 18, 1926 in Palesnik, Yugoslavia, the son of the late Jakob and Katherine (Schmall) Muehl.  He was raised in Worcester.  He married Lois Jennings June 8, 1946.

From 1952-1979 Mike and Lois operated a dairy farm in Emmons.  Michael was a hard working farmer and a man of faith.  He was honest and a man of few words, but shared much wisdom and insight.

He enjoyed country music and loved the comic strip character Snoopy.  He was known for his “Snoopy on the barn roof”, which was viewed and enjoyed by many passersby.  He was fond of things with sparkle, especially his handmade bright colored sequined shirts and his diamond ring, a Christmas gift from Lois.

He and Lois together raised 6 children, teaching them the importance of family.  His greatest pastime was playing cards, a tradition now shared by his children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren.  His skill and luck of winning at cards always brought a little bit of magic to his whole family.

Michael is survived by his children, Michael Linda Borfitz and her husband, Harmon of The Villages, Florida, Andrea Anne Mack and her husband, Barry of Plattsburgh, New York, Mark Muehl and his wife, Priscilla of Fairborn, Ohio, Drue Muehl and his wife, Kathy of Millport, New York, Alex Muehl and his wife, Annmarie of Harpursville, New York and Gretchen Louise Reamy and her husband, Christopher of Centreville, Virginia.

He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren: Tamar Hughes, Jason Hughes, Jared Hughes, Erik Zinicola, Erin Zinicola, Nathan Muehl, Jennica (Muehl) Whitt, Christopher Muehl, Lauren (Muehl) Card, Madison Muehl, Scott Reamy, Allison (Reamy) Heid, Phillip Reamy, Nicholas Muehl, Michael Muehl, Julia Muehl and six great grandchildren.  In addition, he is survived by his brother, Jakob and his wife Vi of Worcester, NY, his sisters Ottillie Ferrara of Oneonta, NY and Elizabeth Michaud of Cortland, NY and many nieces and nephews.

Michael was predeceased by his wife Lois Jennings Muehl, and siblings: Martin Muehl, Mary Naples, Catherine Clark, Anton Muehl, and Rosalie Ryan.
