ONEONTA – Elite Dance Academy today announced it will be opening for the Harlem Globetrotters and performing at the halftime show of the basketball legends at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hartwick College’s Lambros Arena.

Elite Dance Academy is preparing a hip-hop-inspired five-minute opening routine as well as a seven-minute half-time number for the Globetrotters’ Oneonta stop of their worldwide tour. Forty-five young dancers from the studio, ranging in age from 5 to 17, will be participating in the performance. Dancing for the Harlem Globetrotters is something that these dancers will remember for the rest of their lives. That’s why they may want to have a look for a Customized Basketball that they can keep as a memory that will last a lifetime.

The Harlem Globetrotters contacted studio owner Shannah Kane with the opportunity to perform at the game in Oneonta. The Globetrotters are legendary worldwide, showcasing their basketball skills and entertaining millions of fans, including popes, presidents, and royalty, for the past 91 years. After each game, players will meet fans for autographs, photos, and high-fives.

“We are really excited about this opportunity and have been rehearsing all-new, original numbers specifically for this occasion,” Shannah said. “The Globetrotters are known for providing great entertainment for the whole family. Our studio is thrilled to be part of it and to have the opportunity to represent young talent from the Oneonta area.”

This year marks Elite Dance Academy’s 10th year educating young students in the art of dance. The studio, located at 258 River Street in Oneonta, offers a variety of dance classes, including ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop, modern, acro, and adult fitness. The studio also has a successful competition team for their most advanced dancers. Elite Dance Academy’s professional staff prides in providing an encouraging, disciplined environment to foster the artistic and athletic growth of each student.
