Raymond D. Greising

BURLINGTON FLATS – Raymond D. Greising, 77, who spent his career in farming and the farm-equipment sector,  died unexpectedly on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018, at his home.

Ray was born on Dec. 7, 1940, in Ulsterville, Ulster County, on the family farm. He was the son of the late Joseph and Emily LeMaire Greising.

After selling the farm, he worked with Thering Sales & Service of Oneonta, selling supplies to dairy farmers throughout Central New York and the Southern Tier. In addition, he drove medical transport for A&D taxi in Oneonta.

Ray loved his family, and took any opportunity to attend school or sporting events to watch his grandchildren. He especially enjoyed dirt-track racing at the Utica/Rome speedway, or Afton where his grandson AJ raced.

He was a devoted member of the Garrattsville Presbyterian Church, and routinely could be found helping to care for the building.

In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by son Raymond Joseph Greising in 1973, and three brothers, Joseph, Ernie, and John.

Ray is survived by his wife, Lois M. Lammers Greising of Burlington Flats; sons Thomas (Laura) Digsby of Augusta, Ga., James  (Maggie) Digsby of Palm Coast, Fla., Alan (Mindy) Digsby of Burlington Flats, and Glenn  (Marty) Digsby of Dade City, Fla.; daughters Loraine Lester (Bill Maricle) of Smyrna, Del., and Joan (Rick) Loeffler of South New Berlin; Foreign Exchange “daughter” Mabel Inda (Iontxo) of Pamplona, Spain, a brother Frank Greising of Maine, a sister Mary Wilson of Oneonta; grandchildren Thomas, Chris, Michelle, Robert, Jeff, Brian, LeeAnn, Andy, AJ, Shannon, Ashton, Brennan, Sam; 22 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, and nephews.
