IN MEMORIAM: Richard L. Collins, 88;
Retired D&H Stationmaster, Dispatcher
ONEONTA – Richard L. Collins, 88, a former D&H stationmaster and dispatcher, passed away July 14, 2018, at his home.
He was born Aug. 27, 1929, and Central Bridge, the son of Leland and Frances (Neville) Collins. He married Jean Duham on July 15, 1950, in Glen Cove. She predeceased him on Sept. 27, 2012.
Richard was employed by the D&H Railroad as a telegrapher than as a station agent, retiring in 1991 as a train dispatcher.
He was a member of the NRA, the Oneonta Elks Club, Oneonta Sportsman Club, Hartwick Fish & Game Club and the First United Methodist Church.
He survived by his son, Richard L. Collins and wife, Jeanie; and grandchildren, Rachel Collins and Callie Bladow and faithful companion, Sissy.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Janine and brother, Phillip.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, July 20, at the Oneonta Plains Cemetery, with the Rev. Richard Breuninger, retired, officiating.
Donations may be made to the Catskill Area Hospice or the Susquehanna Animal Shelter.
