Boys, Girls Of Summer Take To Fields Today

Boys, Girls Of Summer

Take To Fields Today

The Church & Scott Team, top photo, carried the Cooperstown Youth Baseball banner from the Hartwick Fire Hall at 9 a.m. today to the Town Field, where the season began at 10 a.m. after opening ceremonies. (From left are Garet Bush, Brendan Meade, Charlie Lamont, Conrad Erway, Keenan Murphy, Bryson Whittaker and Chase Burkhart). Reciting the National Anthem, lower left, are, from left, Mia Kalltenback, Emmy Lippitt and Grace Frable. Lower right, Coach Mark Kirkby throws the first pitch to daughter Savannah, who is beginning her final season. Dad had coached daughter for her full Youth Baseball career. CYB stalwart David Pearlman, who isn’t participating in the league this year after decades of volunteerism, was recognized as opening ceremonies.  Check back for photos of Little League opening day in Oneonta, where a field is being dedicated in honor of the late Rich Murphy, longtime coach and former county representative for the Town of Oneonta.   (Jim Kevlin/AllOTSEGO.com)
