In April Burglary

ONEONTA – Three men were arrested and returned to Oneonta to be charged in a burglary at a house on Washington Street in April, according to Oneonta Police.

Teddy Faison, 34, Oneonta, was arrested  in July by the Village of Monticello Police Department, while Brian deVaughn Scott Jr., 19 and Nelson Navar Jr., 19, both of Utica, were arrested in Utica and were arraigned in Oneonta City Court last week.

According to Oneonta police, on Friday, April 21, the City of Oneonta Police Department Uniform Division responded to 14 Washington St. in response to a reported domestic incident.  Subsequent to investigation it was discovered that there was no domestic incident, but it was found that a burglary and robbery had occurred at 1 Washington St.

According to police, three male occupants at 1 Washington St., all students in their 20’s, had been watching a movie when an additional three males entered the apartment.  The three men that entered the apartment were later identified by police as Faison, Scott and Navar.  Faison allegedly displayed a handgun and the three demanded property from the victims, taking their wallets and cell phones.

Navar and Scott were charged with burglary in the first degree, a class B felony and robbery in the first degree, also a class B felony. If convicted, they face a maximum of 50 years incarceration.

Faison was also charged with burglary and robbery in the first degree, as well as criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, a class C felony and assault in the second degree, a class D felony. If convicted, he faces a maximum of 72 years incarceration.
