Outlaws win
home opener
in extra innings

STAFF REPORT • Special to www.AllOTSEGO.com

Gunner Johnson’s walkoff RBI walk scored A.J. Gaich in the bottom of the 10th inning as Oneonta won its first game of the 2021 season, beating Albany, 2-1, in the Outlaws’s home opener Monday, June 7.

Both starting pitchers had good nights. Albany’s Jake Manderson gave up one unearned run in the second inning, but otherwise pitched three clean innings. Gaich scored the Outlaws first run, too, on a fielder’s choice in the second inning.

Kieran Finnegan had an even better performance for Oneonta, pitching a 10-inning complete game, giving up five hits and one run, with seven strikeouts and one walk.

Ben Lavery had the RBI for Albany, scoring Ty Gallagher n a single in the top of the eighth inning to even up the score.

Chase Carroll took the loss in relief for Albany (1-3).

Oneonta (1-3) plays at Mohawk Valley at 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 9, and hosts Saugerties at 7 p.m., Thursday, June 10, at Damaschke Field in Oneonta.
