David Sweat, one of the two convicts who eluded police for more than three weeks after a daring jail break from Clinton Correctional Facility, was shot by state troopers this afternoon in the Town of Constable, just two days after a federal agent shot and killed his partner, Richard W. Matt.

Sweat, 35, who was raised in Deposit, is alive and in police custody, though his condition is unknown.  For the full story at the New York Times, click here.
