IN MEMORIAM: Marjorie A. Tyler, 80, Pierstown

PIERSTOWN – Marjorie A. Tyler, 80, of Pierstown died Friday, Feb. 19, 2016, at Bassett Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Born March 3, 1935, at Bassett, Marjorie grew up in Cooperstown and lived her entire adult life in Pierstown. She was the daughter of Donald and Margaret (Thorn) Smith. She attended Cooperstown schools and married her lifelong love Kenneth Tyler on Feb. 27, 1954. They would have celebrated their 62nd anniversary this week.

Marjorie devoted her life to her family and was dedicated to their care and happiness. She relished every minute with them and especially enjoyed camping with her family and her famous “campfire toast”. She loved sharing in her children and grandchildren’s adventures and lives.

She is survived by her husband Kenneth of Pierstown; her daughter Shirley Collison (Paul) of Cherry Valley; her daughter Terri Maine (Douglas) of Richfield Springs; her grandchildren Christopher (Alexandra) Collison of Rochester; Matthew Collison (Stacy McGlashan) of Jordanville; Travis Collison of Roseboom; Melinda Tyler (Juan Quispe) of New Jersey; Shirley Tyler of Cooperstown; Justin Tyler (Karen Griffiths) of Schuyler Lake; and Kathleen Cotten of Richfield Springs. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Joseph, Lauren, Jenna, and Melany, and by twins which are due shortly, as well as by her beloved cat, Buddy.

Funeral and committal services for Marjorie will, in accordance with her wishes, be private.

The family suggests, for those who so desire, that contributions be made in her memory to the Susquehanna Animal Shelter, 4841 State Highway 28, Cooperstown, NY 13326.

Arrangements are under the care of Tillapaugh Funeral Service, Cooperstown.

Killer Knapp Dies In Prison; Guilty In SUNY Coed’s Death ONEONTA – Ricky Knapp, the man convicted of the 1977 death of SUNY Oneonta student, has died in Mohawk Correctional Facility, according to prison records.
