A few minutes ago at the conclusion of the 2015 Baseball Hall of Fame Induction, this year’s four inductees, from left, Craig Biggio, John Smoltz, Randy Johnson and Pedro Martinez, pose with Hall Chairman Jane Forbes Clark and Rob Manfred, the Rome native who succeeded Bud Selig as commissioner of basball last August.  Martinez called over Juan Marichal, the only other Dominican in the Hall of Fame, to hold their country’s flag together.  In his remarks, Smoltz observed he was of middling height, compared to 5-11 Martinez and 6-10 Johnson, the tallest pitcher in the Hall of Plaques.  The crowd may have exceeded 50,000, which would put today’s event in the top five largest.  (Ian Austin/allotsego.com)
