Heavy Smoke Fills Sky

As Milford Home Burns

At this hour, firefighters from Milford and Hartwick Seminary are battling a blaze at Matt Jahnke's home on North Main Street in Milford.  The smoke can be seen for miles around. This story is developing and will be updated with more details shortly.
Often engulfed in smoke, Milford firefighters pour water on Matt Jahnke’s home at 150 North Main Street, Milford, which broke out at 11:30 a.m. today.  By early afternoon, the blaze was under control, but fire police continued to divert traffic on Route 28 to Oxbow Road and Route 33.  It appears the fire start at the back of the house, perhaps in a kitchen.  At the height of the blaze, the smoke could be seen from Hartwick Seminary and the north and coming out of Portlandville on the south.
