This Summer In Cooperstown

In addition to “Herb Ritts: The Rock Portraits,” The Fenimore Art Museum will have several new exhibits on display this season.

► “Elephant & Piggie In
WE ARE ART” is a family-focused exhibition of illustrator Mo Willem’s award-winning book series. (April 2 – May 15)

►“The Critical Indigenous Photographic Exchange (CIPX): Photographs By Will Wilson.” Done in the style of classic “Tintype” photography, Wilson documents Native American history and representation.
(April 2 – Dec. 31)

►“Eugene and Clare Thaw: A Memorial Tribute.” Following the passing of Eugene last January and Claire in 2017, this exhibit highlights the best of their outstanding collection of American Indian art.
(April 2 – Dec. 31)

►“Hamilton’s Final Act: Enemies and Allies.” Alexander Hamilton’s correspondence with Aaron Burr, as well as artwork and sculpture related to that fateful duel. (April 2 – Dec. 31)

► “Beaded Treasures of Haudenosaunee Art.” 120 pieces from the “masters of beadwork,” both historical and contemporary. (April 2 – June 16)

►“Perfect Harmony: The Musical Art & Life of William Sidney Mount.” 25 oil paintings, pencil drawings, musical instruments and related objects to fuse Mount’s passions for art and music. (May 25 – Sept. 8)

►“Early American Face Jugs.” 70 stoneware vessels, utilitarian and an important form of artistic expression. (June 28 – Dec. 31)

►“Floating Palaces of The Hudson.” Artwork, objects, and photographs, several drawn from the Hudson River Maritime Museum, compliment to the Glimmerglass Festival’s
production of “Showboat.”
(June 29 – Sept. 15)
