IN MEMORIAM: William E. Eissler, 74;
Marine, In Construction For 25 Years
SPRINGFIELD CENTER – William Edward Eissler Sr., 74, a Vietnam-era Marine who worked in heavy construction, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016, at Bassett Hospital, with his family by his side.
He was born on Oct. 9, 1941 in Queens, son of the late George R. and Caroline Berner Eissler. He was raised and educated in Richfield Springs.
On May 16, 1960, he enlisted in the Marine Corps and served during the Vietnam Era; he was honorably discharged on July 30, 1966.
On March 27, 1964, he married the former Margaret Faye Grissom in Jacksonville, near Ithaca.
Mr. Eissler first worked for Mohawk Data Sciences until it closed, then for 25 years in the heavy construction industry, the last seven with Schultz Construction, Balton Spa.
William was a member of the Ilion Moose Lodge. In his leisure time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on cars and trucks as well as his winter trips to Florida.
Surviving him are his devoted wife of 53 years, Margaret, a daughter Donna Hribar and her husband William of Fly Creek, two sons, William E. Eissler Jr. and his fiancée Lisa Bond-Zaffarano of Richfield Springs, George Eissler and his wife Denise of Springfield Center, one brother Donald Eissler, four grandchildren, William Hribar and his wife Megan, Becky Baker and her husband Kurt, Jeremiah Hribar and Tiffany Eissler and fiancée Matt Duquette, five great grandchildren, Liam, Cole, Blake, Chelsey and Zachary. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and George Eissler and a sister, Florence Eissler.
Calling hours will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, at Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, Richfield Springs. A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home, with the Rev. Mark Ioset officiating. Interment with military honors will be in the spring in Fly Creek Cemetery.
