52-50 Nailbiter Wins Title; Next, States

The Cooperstown Hawkeyes revel in victory after besting Syracuse Academy, 52-50, to win the Section III basketball title in action at Onondaga Community College.
The Cooperstown Hawkeyes revel in victory after besting Tully, 52-50, to win the Section III basketball title in action at Onondaga Community College.    CCS now enters the state tournament, with quarter-final action next weekend.   Coach Dave Bertram, right, was named Section III Coach of the Year; he has his arm around son Tyler, who was named the best Cooperstown player of the tournament.  The Lady Hawkeyes will play their sectional game at 12:45 p.m. Sunday against Syracuse Academy, also at Onondaga CC.  (Ian Austin/AllOTSEGO.com)

Tournament games will begin on Thursday, December 26 at 9 a.m. and continue throughout the day with JV teams competing earlier in the day and varsity teams competing in the later games.
