George W. Smith, Jr., Service Saturday

COOPERSTOWN – A memorial service honoring the life of George W. Smith, Jr. will be offered at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2016, at the Cooperstown United Methodist Church with the Rev. William H. Delia, pastor, officiating.

The service of committal and burial will follow in Fitch Hill Cemetery at the corner of Armstrong and Tanner Hill roads in Pierstown.  Military Honors will be accorded by members of  the Sgt. Walter P. Eggleston Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7128 in Cooperstown and the United States Air Force Honor Guard from the Stratton Air National Guard Base in Scotia.

With respect for George’s athletic accomplishments during his high school years in Cooperstown, expressions of sympathy in the form of memorial gifts may be directed to the Cooperstown Sports Booster Club, Cooperstown Central School, 39 Linden Avenue, Cooperstown, NY  13326.
