Are Saying 75th Concert Cancelled

COOPERSTOWN – Ticket holders report receiving calls over the weekend from Baseball Hall of Fame Vice President Ken Meifert advising them that the 75th anniversary concert, scheduled for Aug. 2 and featuring the Boston Pops, Paul Simon and other headliners, has been cancelled.

Word is the decision was made by Loren Harriet, the Hollywood agent who has been booking talent for the event.  In the past few days, he announced Oscar-and Emmy-winner Randy Newman had joined the lineup.  He hasn’t returned calls.

Calls made over the weekend to Hall President Jeff Idelson and his communications staff, Vice President Brad Horn and Communications Director Craig Muder, also have been unreturned.

Meanwhile, most references to the 75th anniversary concert, including a way to buy tickets, have been removed from the Hall’s web site, www.baseballhall.org.  However, tickets are still on sale from such online vendors at stubhub.com, for as much as $555.
