Red Cross Installing

Smoke Alarms In City

Twenty crews from the Red Cross Disaster Action Team went door to door this morning in Oneonta, installing free smoke alarms as part of a nationwide program. Each team – an educator, an installer and a recorder – spoke with homeowners and occupants about proper installation and the importance of having a planned escape route. Here, at Carol Quackenbush’s home, Americorps member Juli Ersfeld, Utica, hands Oneonta Firefighter Kevin Sweeney a fire alarm.  Steven Yearly, Oneonta code enforcement officer, looks on.
