IN MEMORIAM: Charles D. Bolton, 85;

Former Farmer, Town Board Member

BURLINGTON – Charles D. Bolton, 85, retired proprietor of his Cloverleaf Farm and former Burlington Town Board member, died Tuesday Oct. 10, 2017, in Cooperstown.

Charles was born on Dec. 3, 1931, in Burlington, the son of the late Harold and Marie Hull Bolton.

He married the love of his life, Elizabeth Morin on Nov. 14, 1959, in Burlington, where they remained life-long residents, enjoying wonderful neighbors and friends. He was a member and trustee of the Burlington Green Baptist Church, and was the Burlington Green Cemetery caretaker. For many years he could be counted on to do anything the church or cemetery needed him to do.

Charles took great pride in running his farm, The Cloverleaf Farm, until his retirement.

He was an avid bowler participating for over 50 years. In addition, he was a founding member of the Burlington Flats Fish & Game Club, and was a Burlington Town Board member.

Remembered as a family man, Charles could be found making maple syrup with his children and grandchildren, as well as hunting with his family. He loved animals, and had many dogs, and cats, most recently his beloved cat Snoopy.

He is survived by his children and their spouses, Dean (Colleen) Bolton, Cindy (Robert) Cornnell, Dawn (Marty) Slentz, Lisa (Russell) McCall, Scott (Jennifer) Bolton. Eleven grandchildren Amanda (Matt) Brizzell, Caleb Bolton, Joseph Santiago, Stefanie Cornnell, Jordan Cornnell, Dante Cornnell, Nickolas Slentz, Rachel Slentz, Shelby McCall, Justin McCall, Maxwell Bolton, Sam Bolton. Two great grandchildren Charles and Elizabeth Brizzell. His in laws, Dorothy Bolton, Mary (Milt) Anson, Anna (Jack) Reed, and Nancy Myers, and his many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth, his siblings Rebecca  Bolton, Virginia  Gillin, Audrey Skubitz, Rovello  Bolton, Bruce Bolton, and Albert  Bolton.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, at the First Baptist Church of Burlington in Burlington Green, with Pastor Barry Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Burlington Green Cemetery.

Calling hours will be 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Delker & Terry Funeral Home 30 South St., Edmeston.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Burlington Green Cemetery Association.
