WATCH OUT FOR CYCLISTS!
‘
BIKE OTSEGO
‘ UNDERWAY
Cooperstown’s Dave Bertram peddled out of Cooperstown on Route 28 toward Fly Creek at 10:26 a.m. today, just a few minutes ago, entering the second leg of the 75-mile Hall of Fame Ride, part of the first “Bike Otsego” event, which departed from Neahwa Park in Oneonta at 8:10. Watch for the cyclists as they go along Route 80, take a left at West Burlington, and pick up Route 12 in New Lisbon as they head back toward Oneonta. An alternate 68-mile route goes down 205 through the hamlet of Hartwick. (Jim Kevlin/allotsego.com)
About 90 seconds behind Bertram, Oneonta’s Mike Hiscox leads the pack. During a water stop at the Cooperstown Chamber of Commerce, Mike said Murphy Hill had been the most daunting obstacle to that point, but the cyclists were anticipating the long hills of Route 80 west of Fly Creek.
