Caucus On Village Slates

COOPERSTOWN – The Democratic caucus is tonight and the Republican one Tuesday evening for the local parties to firm up their slates for the Tuesday, March 20, village elections.

Three Democratic incumbents – Trustee Ellen Tillapaugh Koch, who is running mayor, and Trustees Cindy Falk and Jim Dean, who are running again– will be seeking their party’s support at 7:30 this evening in the second-floor ballroom at 22 Main, the Village Hall.

Tomorrow evening, Republicans will caucus at 7 p.m. in the Village Board room in the basement of 22 Main to decide whether to field a slate against the Democrats, who have dominated the village’s governing body since 2011.

Elevating the interest in this year’s race is Mayor Jeff Katz’s decision to retire.   If Tillapaugh is elected to succeed him, she will be able to appoint her successor for a year, until the 2019 village elections.
