Fly Creek FD Receives

1st New Truck In Years

The Fly Creek Volunteer Fire Company was on hand this morning for the arrival of its first new vehicle since its formation out of a former organization in 2006:  A $130,000 Wildcat utility vehicle from Upstate NY Plow & Truck Body in Latham.  In the front row are Fire Chief Mike Thayer, third from left, and, to his left, 1st Assistant Chief Steve Baker, 2nd Assistant Chief Chris Vuolo, 3rd Assistant Chief and Vice President Len Pashley and John Phillips, fire police captain.  Second from left is company President Christine Vuolo and, to her right, Rosemary Summers, secretary.   Other volunteers are behind them.  Inset at right, Board of Fire Commissioners chair Margaret Wolf hands the $79,000 check to Upstate Plow & Truck Body’s Travis Croteau, fully paying off the balance on the vehicle.  Next to her are the two other commissioners, Vincent Ruggiero and Ed Kukenberger.   The Wildcat, which will carry air packs, cones and other essential equipment to fire scenes, will have its first outing this evening at the Schenevus Firemen’s Carnival parade.  (Jim Kevlin/AllOTSEGO.com)
