Suspect In Sal’s Break-In
Arraigned In Town Court

COOPERSTOWN – Steven Rundblad Jr., accused of stealing a cash register from Sal’s Pizzeria on Main Street, was arraigned in Town of Otsego Court on Sunday afternoon, less than 12 hours after the crime allegedly occurred.
According to court documents, Rundblad entered the back door of the pizzeria at around 2:13 a.m. Sunday, and took the cash register containing $365.
Rundblad was arrested by Cooperstown police later that morning.
His cousin, John Rundblad, entered an official statement to the record, supporting the allegations against the defendant.
“I had stated that I wouldn’t be surprised if it was my cousin Steven Rundblad because I know he has cut the cord to cash registers before,” said John. “After watching the surveillance video in the store, I saw Steven Rundblad walk through the kitchen straight to the cash register and cut the power cord and pick up the register.”
Owner Salvatore Grigoli explained that he knew Rundblad personally before the break-in.
“Steven Rundblad is known to me through his father, who worked for me, and rented an apartment from me while Steven lived with him,” said Grigoli in a court statement.
Rundblad is currently being held at Otsego County Jail with bail set at $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond. He will return to Town of Otsego court on September 19 at 3:30 pm.
