IN MEMORIAM: ‘Bill’ Vrooman, 86;

IBM Engineer Retired To Gilbertsville

GILBERTSVILLE – Raymond W. “Bill” Vrooman, 86, a career engineer with IBM who retired here in 1987, passed away peacefully on Nov. 6, 2018, at Chase Memorial Nursing Home in New Berlin.

Bill was born on Sept. 5, 1932 to the late Raymond and Elizabeth (Pagel) Vrooman. Bill was united in marriage to the former Rosemarie Montebello.

He was a caring and devoted family man who also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States. He was especially fond of Maine and Rhode Island.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Rosemarie; niece, Kimberlee Wright; nephew, Greg (Leisha) Spaulding; grand- nieces Tara Finger and Nicole Spaulding; grand- nephews, Shaun Spaulding, Matthew Spaulding and Christopher Wright. 

Friends and family are invited to visiting hours 10 a.m.-noon, Wednesday, Nov. 14, at the Johnston Funeral Home, 60 Broad St., Morris. A funeral will begin at 12 moon at the funeral home with Maureen Joy officiating. Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery in Gilbertsville.

Donations in memory of Bill may be made to the Gilbertsville Rod & Gun Club: Rod & Gun Club Road, South New Berlin, NY 13843.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Johnston Funeral Home in Morris.
