IN MEMORIAM: Bernard ‘Buddy’ Bunt, 69;

Vietnam Veteran Had Moved To Tennessee

“Buddy” Bunt

HARTWICK – Bernard “Buddy” C. Bunt, Jr., 69, a lifelong Hartwick resident and Vietnam veteran who lived in Paris, Tenn., for the past 1½ years, died Nov. 23, 2018, at his home there.

He was born on June 23, 1949, in Cooperstown, son of Bernard C. Bunt, Sr. and Elizabeth A. Schweitzer Bunt.  He attended Cooperstown Central School, then joined the Marine Corps, serving in Vietnam.

He married Laura Lynn Shockley Bunt on April 6, 1974.

Avid sportsman, bowler and golfer, he served on the Kinney Memorial Library Board of Directors.

In addition to his wife, in Paris, Tenn., she is survived by his daughters, Keely (Russell) Barnes of Springville Tenn., and Jessica (Ray Russell) Bunt of Oneonta; sister Susan (Chuck) Hascup; brother Michael (Cindy) Bunt of Northport, Fla.; sister-in-law Janet Bunt of Herkimer; and many other family members and friends.

Buddy was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Arthur “Ozzie” J. Bunt.

There will be a memorial service at Kingdom Hall in Schuyler Lake at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, followed by a gathering at the Hartwick Fire Station.
