IN MEMORIAM: Mary E. Bunt, 69;
With Husband, Depicted The Clauses
UNADILLA – Mary E. Bunt, 69, of Unadilla, who with her husband, Fred, depicted Mrs. Claus and Santa locally for many years, passed away Saturday morning Dec. 8, 2018, at her home surrounded by family.
She was born on May 12, 1949, to Floyd & Beulah (Bell) Jones. She married Frederick Bunt on May 29, 1971, in Hartwick; he predeceased her. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Luella Lyons, Lillian Rogers & Georgia Lorraine Jones, brothers, George, Paul & Walter, and Floyd Arnold Jones.
She is survived by her children and their families, Joseph Bunt, Unadilla, Dawn & Jerome Spinola, Unadilla, 8 grandchildren, Aaron, Ayrica, Jonathan & Joshua; Timothy, Kimberly, Cordell & Cheyenne, 6 great grandchildren, 2 sisters, Shirley Luce, Sidney, Rose (Raymond) Howard, Apalachin, 2 brothers, Robert (Lorraine) Jones, Sidney, Jeffrey (Shelly) Jones, Unadilla, 2 sisters-in-law, Doreen (Les) Bush, Edmeston, Patty (David) Simmons, Hartwick and also several nieces and nephews.
She was a retired employee of Jamesway/K-Mart in Sidney. She was a member of the Unadilla Emergency Squad. She and husband Fred were well-known for celebrating the Christmas season as the Clauses. In 2009, the Unadilla Chamber of Commerce gave the couple its Good Neighbor Award for their holiday service.
Graveside Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, in Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Unadilla, with Rev. Roy Vandermark officiating.
