Cooperstown Embraces ‘Tree Of Life’ Idea,

Joining Oneonta, Cobleskill; Aiding Hospice

Lola Rathbone, president/CEO, Catskill Area Hospice, welcomes 40 people who gathered a few minutes ago for the lighting of a Tree of Life, bearing handmade heart ornaments in memory of lost loved ones, in front of 22 Main St., Cooperstown's village hall. The trees are a tradition in Oneonta and Cobleskill, but this is Cooperstown's first, the idea of Mary Margaret Sohn. The A Coopella group sang Christmas carols, and Bruce Markusen read a poem, "Hospice Lights." (Jim Kevlin/allotsego.com)
