Letter from Jill Basile

Open Letter to Dave Bliss

I would like to bring to your attention Representative Donald Scanlon’s (District 13, Oneonta City Wards 5 & 6) lack of attendance at meetings for both committees on which he serves for the 2023 year (Health and Education and Human Services). I know we are elected officials and the public has entrusted Rep. Scanlon with their vote, but as a committee chair and member, his lack of attendance is frustrating. Mr. Scanlon does not reply to e-mails, does not show, and sometimes this leaves us without a quorum—having to cancel or reschedule meetings. According to the attendance rolls, he has made it to two of our 12 Human Services meetings and one Health and Education meeting for 2023 (these committees meet monthly). I hope in the new year he can be held more accountable by you, the taxpayers and voters in Oneonta City Wards 5 & 6.
