IN TWO OR THREE SENTENCES, EXPLAIN YOUR PHILOSOPHY OF GOVERNMENT

The purpose of government is to provide services that the private sector is unable to provide. And to do this in the most cost effective manor and as efficiently as possible.

WHAT ARE THE THREE MAJOR ISSUES THE OTSEGO COUNTY BOARD OF REPRESENTATIVES FACES, AND HOW WOULD YOU ADDRESS THEM?

  1. Strategic Planning: During the first quarter the newly elected board should establish the goals for the next two years and the time line in which they would be completed. This will enable the public to provide their input and measure the boards effectiveness.
  2. Right-sizing government: Eliminate redundancies at the department level and those services already provided by federal/state agencies.
  3. 3. Reduce Legacy Costs: Align medical and retirement benefits for “Future Employees” so they are more realistic with present longevity statistics thereby reducing costs and securing existing commitments to present employees and retires.

WHAT QUALITIES/EXPERIENCE DO YOU HAVE THAT MAKES YOU THE BETTER CHOICE IN THIS RACE

I feel my professional experience, education, and my experience working with Otsego County department heads and board members make me the obvious choice.

IS THERE A STATEMENT YOU’D LIKE TO SHARE WITH VOTERS?

I am very disappointed with the amount of negative erroneous information that is circulating throughout the county. The timing of these accusations is deliberate as to not give the accusers ample time to respond. It is my opinion those using negative tactics are generally less qualified and unable to rest on their own laurels.  I strongly urge all voters to vote for the individual whom they feel is best qualified for the position, ignoring false negative innuendos. Thank You Russ
