Chief Urges Residents, ‘Lock Your Doors’

COOPERSTOWN – Police are warning Cooperstown residents to lock their doors after a man walked into a Nelson Avenue home and stole a purse.

Around 3 p.m. yesterday afternoon, a man in drove up to a home on Nelson Avenue in a green Dodge Caravan and walked into the house while the residents were upstairs.  He allegedly stole a purse off a table, and the children saw him as he was exiting the home.

“Everyone needs to make sure their doors are locked,” said Police Chief Michael Covert.

The suspect was described as white, mid-30s and without facial hair.  Anyone with tips is urged to call is the Cooperstown Police Department, (607)  547-2500.

Man arrested for using counterfeit bill at Schneider’s Bakery Staff Report • Special to www.AllOTSEGO.com A man using a fake $100 bill at Schneider’s Bakery was arrested on Main Street on Monday after being observed by the family who runs the bakery.
