High Winds Due

In Otsego County

The weather has taken a turn in recent weeks and is starting to get more and more stormy. This has led to multiple issues and the National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning, in effect until midnight in Otsego County and other counties in Central New York as well as across the US.

Sustained winds at 40 mph are expected this evening, with gusts up to 60 mph. When the winds hit, they are expected to continue for about an hour. This could cause quite a lot of damage, so people are advised to stay inside at this time.
“Damage to trees, power lines, and property are possible with winds of this magnitude,” the Weather Service reports. “Be prepared for the possibility of trees blocking roads and power outages.

Only after the storm passes should you check to see if any damage has occurred on your property. The most vulnerable part of your property is the roof so be sure to have a look and check for any leaks. Any trees that have been damaged could pose a risk to your home so it’s important that you look for a Tree Removal Company In Marietta to deal with the issue for you. The sooner the better as falling branches can cause serious injury.

Service workers will be working overtime to ensure any trees that fall onto roads are removed quickly and utility workers will also be looking for any electricity wires that could be downed by the wind and will get electricity back to affected homes as soon as possible.

The Weather Service also reports “At home, you should be prepared to be without power, possibly for several days. Make sure you have adequate supplies of food and medicine.”
