HOUSING VISIONS PROPOSES

58 DWELLINGS IN ONEONTA

logo_leftupdateONEONTA – Housing Visions of Syracuse is bringing its first round of housing projects – a mix of apartments and townhouses, 58 housing units in all – to the city Planning Commission at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, in Common Council chambers.

Patrick Stanczyk will appear on behalf of Housing Visions for a “sketch plan conference” on two projects:

• One townhouse and two buildings with four dwellings each on the corner of Columbia and West streets.

• A building with “41 dwelling units” and eight single-family townhouses along Silver Avenue.
The first project will require demolition of 23 and 25-27 Columbia St., and 34 and 38 West St. The S‎ilver Avenue property is already vacant.

The projects were developed during the tenure of City Manager Mike Long, who had collaborate with Housing Visions on projects in Auburn when he was a city official there.

Housing Visions is a not-for-profit that acquires dilapidated properties, demolishes them and puts them back on the market as private, tax-paying entities.

City Hall received a $400,000 CFA grant in August 2013 to help fund this undertaking.
