Lucy Townsend’s catering crew dressed up on the “Run for the Roses” theme. Susanne Smith McAvoy, posing with husband Matthew, was presented with a bouquet for having swum the length of Otsego Lake earlier in the day. “It was on my bucket list,” said Susanne, a onetime five-year lifeguard at the Cooperstown Country Club. She is the daughter of Bradley and Gunter Smith of Cary Meade. The McAvoys were visiting from Connecticut. Kevin Moore, president of The Clark Estates, retraces his predecessor’s accomplishments in introductory remarks.
