IN MEMORIAM:  Bob Lingner, 77; Ran Carpet Store

ONEONTA – Robert “Bob” J. Lingner, 77, who owned Lingner’s Carper and B&D Chowder Bar, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014, surrounded by his family.

Bob was born on Jan. 15, 1937, in Oneonta, the son of the late Joseph and Esther (House) Lingner. He was an OHS graduate, Class of 1954.

After an independent businessman for 55 years, he most recently recently worked for Five Star Subaru.

Bob was an avid sports enthusiast, enjoying fishing, hunting, and bowling. He also enjoyed watching all sporting events.

Bob was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Loyal Order of Moose, and the Sixth Ward Athletic Club.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Lingner of Oneonta; his four children, John (Jackie) Lingner of Palm Bay, Fla., Roberta Lingner of Oneonta, Nancy Lingner and her fiancé, Chris Bowdish, of Delmar, and Deborah (Murray) Cole of Athens, Pa.; and their mother, Betty Lingner of Oneonta; and his grandsons, Casey Connor and Cody Robert Cole.

Also, two step-children, Dennis (Lisa) Trask of Utica, and Lorraine (Chip) Hinde of Fairbanks, Ala.; nine step-grandchildren, six step-great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his sister, Janet Lingner-Butler.

At Bob’s request there will be no calling hours or public funeral. A celebration of Robert’s Life will be arranged by his family at a later date.
