Main Point Not Challenged
What a pleasure to read replies from Jill Holbrook and Nicole Dillingham to my July 2 “Partial Observer” submission titled “A House Divided Cannot Stand.” Thank you both for reading my opinions, giving them your attention and taking the time to reply.
My takeaway, however, is that we see the events of our time very differently. While Jill compared Trump to King George with creativity and multiple references, Nicole made a strong case for the importance of viewing ourselves not as a house, but rather as a “village” with room for many points of view.
While my goal was to invite conversation, neither Jill nor Nicole seemed to challenge my main point, which was that our partisan disdain for Trump is causing us to ignore the “real issues,” many of which I specifically described in the July 2 edition.
As an aside, I continue to wonder if anyone in Cooperstown agrees with anything I wrote.

Cable news gotcha nonsense about transgender athletes blithely ignores the substantive issues:
1. Republicans control both houses of Congress, the Supreme Court, and the Presidency
2. We are on track to a $1.8 Billion annual budget deficit and a record high trade imbalances
3. We have started another pointless war in the mideast
4. Inflation is driven by that war and the Trump Tariffs
5. Other than the courageous Congressman Thomas Massie, Republican politicians are beholden to a foreign government
6. Corruption in government, including the sale of pardons, is comparable to what it was in Britain 250 years ago.
7. Incompetence in government is exacerbated by appointing grifters, drunkards and showboats
In sum, on our nation’s 250th birthday, we are back to having to contend with a narcissistic buffoon. That’s the “real issue”
