Oneonta’s Interfaith Thanksgiving Service 11/25

ONEONTA – This year’s Community Interfaith Thanksgiving Service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 25 Walnut St., hosted by Father David Mickiewicz, pastor.

Choir rehearsal at 6.  All welcome to sing in interfaith choir, performing music by Mark Schweizer under the direction of organist/choirmaster John Jurgensen.  Choir robes will not be worn.

Acting Mayor Russ Southard will read a Thanksgiving proclamation.  The message will be given by Rev. David Poling of Saint Innocent Orthodox Mission Church, and Rev. Dr. Cynthia L. Walton-Leavitt of the First United Presbyterian Church will lead the universal prayers.  Readers will include Hollie Jaffe, Rev. Randolph Palada, and Michael O’Sullivan.  Father Scott VanDerveer of St. Mary’s will give the closing prayer.  The men of the Naksh-i’bendi Sufi Center will also participate.

Donations of money and non-perishable food are requested.  Donated food and money from the offering will be given to Oneonta food pantries.

There will be a reception in the vestibule of the church immediately following the service.

Riverside Students Plant Apple Trees, Help Restore Piece of Oneonta History ONEONTA On Friday, April 28, the City of Oneonta planted an apple orchard on the Swart-Wilcox House Museum property with the help of Riverside Elementary School students.
