Public Hearing Tuesday On Chicken Law
ONEONTA – At its March 3 meeting, Common Council signaled it will support an ordinance allowing city residents to raise chickens.
At the next meeting, at 7 p.m. Tuesday, council will convene a public hearing on the matter, required before the law can be finally approved.
In related matters, council will consider charging a $25 fee for a two-year permit to raise chickens. And Mayor Russ Southard, in his report, will signal whether he plans to support the law.
At 6:30 p.m., there will be a reception in City Hall lobby to honor three recipients of this year’s Trailblazer Awards, presented by the city Commission on Community Relations & Human Rights. This year’s honorees are Angela Brindley, Joanne Fisher and Debra Marcus.
