SCHWERD RESUMES DUTIES

AFTER TWO-MONTH ABSENCE

COOPERSTOWN – County Rep. Betty Anne Schwerd, R-Edmeston, who has been absent from county Board deliberations for at least two months, has returned.

Schwerd appeared at the county’s Intergovernmental Affairs Committee Friday afternoon, and reassumed the chairmanship of that key committee from county Rep. Kay Stuligross, D-Oneonta, who had been appointed by board Chair Kathy Clark, R-Otego, in the interim.

The veteran county rep stepped away from her official duties after leaving the employ of state Sen. Jim Seward, R-Milford. District Attorney John Muehl had initiated an investigation into matters surrounding her departure, but dropped the probe in early July at the senator’s request.

A message was left on the county rep’s answering machine this morning , and this will be updated when she calls back.
